On December 20, 2021, MRU President Tim Rahilly wrote Frances Widdowson’s termination letter. On this letter, Rahilly listed 12 “factors” for why Widdowson’s employment relationship was “unviable”. The blue highlighted numbers were unsubstantiated, the pink were not mentioned by the Arbitrator and the yellow were substantiated.

After submissions were made to the Arbitrator, the following evidence was presented by both parties.

EVIDENCE
SAMRU Press Release (*1)

Frances Widdowson email to Jennifer Pettit on September 3, 2019 (*2)
March 5, 2021 AFC Meeting (*3)
Hope Report (*4)
In four of the six Tweets documented in the Hope Report, where MRU claimed that Widdowson was guilty of “harassment”, five were satirizing the activities of the Mount Royal Anti-Racism Coalition (@MRUAntiRacism). This entity allowed about 12 faculty members to hide behind anonymity to smear Widdowson as a “racist” with impunity. In her testimony in the artibration hearing, Provost Elizabeth Evans implied that @MRUAntiRacism was a “member of the MRU community” and therefore it was harassment for Widdowson to direct her satire at it.
