Peer Review Report of Separate but Unequal: How Parallelist Ideology Conceals Indigenous Dependency.  The reviewer states the following: “We need more work like this, and the University of Ottawa Press would be doing the scholarly community a service (even if the community wails) by publishing this book”.

Ian Mosby (Ryerson University) encourages other academics to go to Widdowson’s publishers and state the following: “publish this racist nonsense again and we’ll stop publishing with or doing peer reviews for you”.

Sean Carleton (University of Manitoba) asserts that “no one takes [Separate but Unequal] seriously in our field (the worst insult for an academic – irrelevance)”.

A comment by Danielle Lorenz, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta and the Knowledge Mobilization Editor for the Canadian Journal of Disability Studies, is an indication of the current scholarly treatment of Disrobing the Aboriginal Industry.  Lorenz argues that Widdowson and Howard should not be cited, even when discussing their work, as she “wouldn’t want their citation #’s to increase for them being garbage humans”.

*A great deal of the research for “Billy Remembers” was undertaken by Nina Green.

Widdowson’s piece “Billy Remembers” was in response to misinformation provided by people like MRU President, Dr. Tim Rahilly.  On June 10, 2021, Rahilly posted a video that included comments about “the heartbreaking discovery of the 215 children found in unmarked graves at the former Kamloops Residential School”.

Chapter Three: The Political Economy of Truth and Reconciliation
Chapter Four: Capturing “Rents” with the Creation of a Victim/Perpetrator Dichotomy
