In January 2025, Blacklock’s Reporter received over 200 documents through a freedom of information request. These documents were heavily redacted.
Frances Widdowson did a summary of what she perceived to be the relevant documents pertaining to the funding allocated for excavations.
Widdowson also did a video on whether the lack of excavations, where $12.1 million of public funds had been allocated for this purpose, would constitute “fraud”.
Blacklock’s tried to get more information on the redacted documents, but was told by the government that the information was “confidential” and therefore the files would be sealed.

On January 13, 2026, the Information Commissioner, Caroline Maynard, ordered that Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada release the documents about the progress activity reports that the Kamloops Indian Band was supposed to be doing on the excavations. These documents are supposed to be released in 36 days.
It is very important that these documents get released without redactions. In order for this to occur, questions must be asked in the House of Commons by the opposition. This will be the subject of the next post “3. Accountability: Pierre Poilievre, Aaron Gunn and the Conservative Party of Canada”.
I sit on the edge of my seat wondering if this will finally break open the opportunity to chastise all politicians who stood in the house and declared that Canada had committed genocide? This was unanimously agreed on. It’s libel and slander and many Canadians have simply had enough. We’re damn angry. Education was negotiated in some of the treaties by some indigenous leaders at the time. They wanted their people to prosper in the new world. Education was a treaty right for many indigenous kids and a treaty obligation for the Canadian government. Culture is taught at home, not school so how can anyone possibly accuse Canada of committing genocide. Is there any such thing as an honest politician anymore?
