A Settler Colonialism Induced Feminist Snap — in other words a 12 thousand word, foot-noted feminist temper tantrum addressed to American idiots in Pittsburg by an emotional 4 year old with a chronological age of 43 or 53 or whatever number of years. Here is a person, Dr. Carolyn Hodes, who personally justifies the utter annihilation of Canada’s University “system”, given that the University “system” must own responsibility for “educating” this person. She has 12 thousand words for some American “think alikes”, but can’t provide 12 words, in a public library, in her own town, to her fellow Canadian academics, in “order” to justify her ill-disguised contempt for almost everyone with whom she interacts!
Wow! She really dislikes being compared to the dullest pencil in a pencil box — which seems to be Dr. Paul Viminitz’s version of the Carpenter’s “Critique” of some individuals not being the sharpest tool/s in the (carpenter’s) shed. Hodes conflates all of Viminitz’s analogy, Widdowson’s alleged residential school denialism and the foul language of some idiot who called her a crudely named anatomical part by saying quote:
HODES: ” … these emails could have come out of a single person’s mouth in a successive line of escalation.” [p. 42, bottom left column]
Hodes paints everyone with the same “brush”, being unable to discriminate between vile ad hominems (involving “privates”), somewhat more “clever” comparative ad hominems (Viminitz) and academic arguments (Widdowson and Victor Rodych) where Rodych argued that he had seen no evidence of racism while watching, quote, “… 80 minutes of videos…” [p. 40; first column; Rodych apparently viewed Widdowson’s “taped/videoed” arguments].
According to Hodes, Rodych’s letter exemplifies, quote, “…IRS denialism and misogynist, racist and ableist settler colonial discourse.” Rodych is a “misogynist” and an example of, quote, “White male privilege and power” because he disagrees with her assessment of Widdowson. But when the Pope agrees with her, then the Pope is a legitimate authority for a “feminist” on the topic of Canadian residential schools! I bet she loves the Pope on abortion and women’s “rights” to abort their human fetuses. So is Rodych a “misogynist” for disagreeing with Hodes or a “feminist” for agreeing with the non-racism of Widdowson?
Hodes spares no one — including the medical establishment. Quote:
HODES: My diagnosis is the invention of a misogynistic, racist, and ableist medical establishment that would have had me sterilized and locked up in an asylum not that long ago. Therefore, the violently genocidal and ableist society in which I live, including the academic institution that pays my bills, are the problem as the following case study will demonstrate. I am my case study, a mad killer of joy. [p. 37, top of 2nd column].
Personally, I wouldn’t call Ms. Hodes a “kill joy”. She is sort of amusing in a Clownish way particularly her tendency to assume what ought to be proved, usually called “petitio principii” by Latin logicians or “begging the question” [a.k.a. circular reasoning/argument] by English speakers. An “ableist” medical establishment is, “therefore”, an “ableist” society. She knows nothing of “demonstrating” anything other than sophomoric fallacies. I was particularly amused by quote:
HODES: I do not need nor do I want to be fixed, although I do appreciate how contemporary medications make surviving this settler colonial hellscape possible. [p. 37, bottom left column].
Hodes lives in one of the easiest, soft-ist, cushiest societies ever known on the face of the earth, yet considers it to be a “settler colonial hellscape”! I wonder what happens to her composure if she ever has to experience a hang nail or some actual hunger before a meal, let alone actually justifying her “thinking” to dissident critics. Woe to poor Ms. Hodes. Thank Heaven for drugs!
