On June 7, 2026, Frances Widdowson sent the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA) an email threatening legal action if it did not retract a statement on their website.
The statement in question was posted the week following the February 4 Spectrum Street Epistemology session held at the University of Lethbridge in the Atrium.

The “GEDC” is the Gender, Equity and Diversity Committee of the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association. The Chair is Patrick Wilson, an anthropologist at the University of Lethbridge.

The Spectrum Street Epistemology Session that the GEDC was condemning, was actually trying to determine the evidence for and against the claim that “The residential schools were genocidal”.
A shaken Widdowson recounted the terrible sequence of events that occurred the next morning on February 5, 2026.
Footage from that day is documented in a video that Widdowson did on February 14, 2026.
As a result of the kinds of allegations that were made by the GEDC, an “Individual on Campus Alert was sent out on April 25, 2026, when Widdowson was intending to go and have a coffee with a student on campus and explain to him the Spectrum Street Epistemology method.

These claims by the GEDC contributed to Frances Widdowson being handuffed and forcibly removed from campus by the Lethbridge Police.
