After the false claim that the “remains of 215 children” had been “confirmed” at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, a number of memorials sprung up around the country. One of these Memorials was constructed at Calgary’s City Hall.
This Memorial continues to exist, but it is now going to be moved to Fort Calgary, which has been renamed “The Confluence”. As was reported in the Calgary Herald on March 14, this will involve over $7 million dollars and a march referred to as “the transfer of spirit”.
Frances Widdowson interviewed Michelle Stirling in September 2025 in front of the Memorial, drawing attention to its problems (this is a clip from footage by Simon Hergott).
Widdowson asks “What is it going to take to get people to recognize that this false information is being put forward to extract various concessions”?
Enough is enough, says Widdowson. She will be there asking “What Remains?” on March 20, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.!
